The General Assembly passed a new Congressional map this week, but left Raleigh without passing a comprehensive state budget.

House Speaker Destin Hall said on Wednesday that the House likely won’t take any more votes for the rest of the year, meaning no raises and bonuses for employees and retirees in 2025.

A bill was unanimously passed by the House on Wednesday that included the House’s raise proposal, but it was symbolic and has little chance of being enacted. A comprehensive budget will ultimately decide if raises are given at all.
